Steve Havertz Executive Director
Steve is a native of Utah and comes to Family Counseling Center with a wealth of knowledge, skills and expertise. He has been in the mental health field since 1988 and worked in all types of setting from out-patient to in-patient work. He has worked for the University of Utah, AETNA, UHS and other treatment programs. He has been in many leadership positions over the years. He loves to see people and organizations be find the path to success and wants to be part of helping to find the formula to continued success at Family Counseling Center. Steve feels this path is different for every person and organization and finds satisfaction in finding it. He is an author of two books, one on effectively dealing with stress and the other on finding the path to healthy grief and loss. After the death of his wife and later his nine-year-old daughter the challenges some of his clients faced became crystal clear to him. Reflectively he says, “The path to becoming emotionally healthy after significant losses is a blustery, bumpy road.” He remarried in 2005 and feels he is with the most wonderful, beautiful woman in the world. He is the father to five children and recently became a grandpa. He enjoys a good “edge of your seat” type of movie and is intrigued by page-turning spy thriller novels.
