Olga has worked for Family Counseling Center approximately two years. She also works as a therapist with troubled youth for the Utah Department of Juvenile Justice Services. Olga came to Utah from Texas to practice her gift of helping others. She has held diverse positions in law enforcement in different capacities and has extensive experience in dealing with both victims and offenders involved with the criminal justice system for the past eleven years. Olga’s encompassing training and personal experiences makes her an asset as a mental health counselor as she has helped individuals shine light in their darkest moments of life. Olga has also served as a Forensic Interviewer for children while working with Crimes Against Children for the El Paso Police Department in El Paso, Texas. She has helped victims of sexual assaults, home invasions, kidnappings, human trafficking, aggravated assaults, murders, suicides and much more while working as a Detective for Crimes Against Persons/Homicide Unit in El Paso, Texas. In addition to her law enforcement background, she was also a Middle School Gifted and Talented teacher in addition to working with Dyslexic Children. Olga obtained her B.A. in Psychology/Minor in Kinesiology from The University of Texas at El Paso. She obtained a Master’s in Mental Health Counseling from University of Phoenix in New Mexico.
Off the job, Olga teaches Developmental Psychology at Salt Lake Community College. She also enjoys the gym, movies, and outdoor activities. For Olga, empowering her clients is her “Why”. Olga assists her clients in finding themselves by using an ecclectic approach, client centered and evidence based counseling techniques. Olga finds fulfillment in helping her clients work through past and current issues along with identifying strategies that will help in coping with current hardships. Olga’s background has granted her the ability to work with diversity in both her clients and our communities. Olga believes strongly in the power of choice and positive affirmations.
