She has prior experience as a dual-diagnosis therapist, aftercare coordinator, and admissions specialist in private and public sectors, and has enjoyed serving a diversity of populations in a variety of settings. She holds a Masters in Social Work from the University of Utah, which she received in 2013. In 2003, she received her BS summa cum laude in Physics at Northern Arizona University. She has completed post-graduate training in the treatment of trauma; assessment and diagnosis; the neuroscience of addiction; treatment of personality disorders; and applications of object relations and attachment theory in psychotherapy. Prior to her clinical social work career, Laurian worked as a software analyst, database developer, and in outcomes research to support the arts, healthcare, and programs for the underserved.
Laurian’s demeanor and calm personality make her a perfect fit for this work. She effectively communicates through problems and uses mindfulness and stress management practices in her own life. “We need to practice what we teach,” she remarks.
